It is Easter weekend and we have a few days to kill…. So our Camper called us for an adventure, we actually did not know where we were going to go till we got into the camper. So of course there were a few things I had forgotten.
We started our adventure on Friday April 14th going to Il Bagnaccio. This place was in the middle of nowhere… near Viterbo.
We had to go down a dirt road to get there and Parking was ample… Cost 5 euro a person and 5 euro to park the whole night.
We jumped into the pools before and after dinner till midnight.
The sulfur water came from the ground boiling and is distributed in to some manmade pools.
The next morning we slept till 10am, shocker because we are early risers.
We were off to a free spring also on the outskirts of Viterbo called, Piscine Carletti, pice of clothe with the water and place it on the irritated skin or gargle with it.
these pools were part of a public lot with lots of parking for cars and campers.
Here people sat in the pools and spread blankets on the grass and had BBQ’s. Others came with empty water bottles to collect the sulfur water to use to cure many ailments, they would saturate a
My husband had been suffering from a cold and very sore throat, so he gargled with the sulfur water a few times. I on the other hand had a nasty spider bite so i put compresses on that, usually it takes a spider bite on my a month or so to heal with clear puss, but it cleared up in a days time.
So needless to say we collected 5 bottles of the water to give also to friends, and my husband also received a full body massage for 15 euro from a china man who set up shop there.
Today we also decided to go to a paying spa, one we had been very curious about. Termi dei Papi, this is just down the street 15 min. On our way there on our short cut we discovered a Botanical Park where extremely hot springs bubble up from Parco del Bullicame.
The springs here did not work anymore because, the city let the paying termi, Termi dei Papi guide the water down to them.
Termi dei Papi, This place parking was easy and free, the place itself has one huge pool where the shallow end is the hottest. We decided to get some extra stuff here at the spa part, so for 30 euro we got entrance to big pool, then we had 20 min walking in hot and cold water (got boring for me), then we went into hot sulfur caves that we had to have a doctor check us out beforehand. All in all it was an experience, we spent 5 hours here then left, to the next spot for the night.
We headed for the Mediterranean coast, my husband want to go kite surfing….
Saline Sadun, or it is called The Silver Coast, we found a free camper parking spot for the night, on this lip of sand that was just perfect. Other campers were parked under pine trees, but I don’t like parking under them because of the sap that falls on our camper, especially on our solar panels.
The next morning, Easter we were off to the kite beach, Golfo di Talamone. Here we found wonderful wind for kite surfing and many kites in the air. I great place to park our camper with many others, cost was 10 euro over night without amenities.
When he got back we had our Easter Lunch.
We took a bike ride into the village of Talamone, there was a wonderful fortress to visit and the sunset was just amazing.
The next morning was too low to kite surf so my husband took off on the Mt.Bike with some fellow campers. They wen went up onto the neighboring hills for 3 hours, below are some of his photos.
This beach had the strangest seaweed.
We did not go out to eat not once this trip, we ate entirely in our camper, so our total expenses were: Gas: 80 euro Camper Parking: 17 euro Spas: 70 euro
Total: 167 euro
I thank you and truly hope you enjoyed this and it was informative, we won’t be doing anymore hot springs till winter time, it’s better when it is cold out.
If you have any questions please ask and I will answer.
